CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee – On day two of the Austin Peay Beach Volleyball Tournament, the University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball squad dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to host-Austin Peay on Saturday at the Austin Peay beach volleyball courts.

UCA (2-1) falls to 3-1 all-time against the Governors and concludes its three-match stay in the Volunteer State.

The No. 1 duo of Haley Tippett and Colene Hamilton were absolutely dominant on Saturday.

They dispatched Austin Peay's Ginny Gerig and Ciera Koons 21-14, 21-10 in straight sets to move to 3-0 on the season.

Partners Kelsie Sager and Faith Hasness also moved to 3-0 on the season with a 21-18, 21-19, 17-15 thrilling win over the Governors No. 4 pairing.

Mackenzie Dear and Aly Brinkley (2-1) suffered their first setback of the year with a 21-15, 22-20 defeat to APSU's Brooke Moore and Jenna Panning.

Jessica Martinez and Kellen Dunn bounced back from a tough first set to force a third set before ultimately dropping a 21-10, 21-17, 15-12 decision. The pairing is 1-2 on the year.

Kayla Cook and Hailey Weber were on the wrong end of a 21-13, 21-11 result, the first loss for the duo of 2019.

Kimmy Schnars and Elleson Dunagin were strong in an exhibition match with Austin Peay's Nina Korfhage and Karli Graham.

The Bear combo easily dispatched the Governor pair 21-11, 21-14.

"Not the overall outcome we had hoped for, but there were several good takeaways from the weekend," UCA coach Jeni Jones Chatman said. "We look forward to getting back to practice this week."

Next weekend, the Beach Bears will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the Fight in the Fort tournament hosted by TCU.

The first match for the Bears is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. March 23 against Cal Poly.
