FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas freshman Chunxi Xin was awarded for her stellar play last weekend when she was named women's tennis Southland Conference Player of the Week by the league office this afternoon.

This is the second time that the SLC has rewarded Xin as she was also recognized as the week six recipient.

Xin enjoyed a 3-0 weekend against Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian as she swept both singles matches and won her doubles match against the Wildcats to lead the Bears to a 2-0 weekend.

After defeating the Cardinals 6-1, the Bears entered their next match against a Wildcats team that was unbeaten in SLC play.

Xin and teammate Marli Van Heerden took their doubles match 6-4 and defeated a duo that was 6-1 in SLC play prior to the match.

The win helped the Bears hand the Wildcats their first doubles point loss since March 1.

Xin and Van Heerden improved to 7-2 on the year at the No. 1 position, a conference-best record.

In singles play, Xin's key win came against the Wildcats at the No. 1 position.

Nini Memishishi was 7-2 in SLC play coming into the match and Xin swept her 6-3, 6-0 to help hand the Wildcats their first conference loss.

Xin improved to 10-3 overall and an impressive 7-3 in SLC play at the No. 1 position.

The Bears will wrap up their regular season this weekend with a key matchup against the Corpus Christi Islanders on April 19 in Tyler, Texas.

Xin will look to lead her team to their eighth win in nine matches and put them in position to be crowned SLC Conference Champions.

The match is set to begin at noon.
