The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team had its final prep before the season opener Monday as the Purple team took a 25-23, 28-26, 18-25 victory over the Black in an intrasquad scrimmage.   

Leading the way for the Black team was Jessia Hays, who recorded a match-high 20 kills. Hays also added two service aces and three digs. Lauren Dear, a senior setter, turned in a match-best 29 assists to go along with two block assists. Cristin Curl, a preseason first-team All-SLC selection, led the defense. The Purple team was lead offensively by Taylor Whileyman’s 13 kills. 

UCA opens the season Friday against Xavier in their first of three matches at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup in Houston, Texas.
