In its first exhibition match of the season, the Hendrix College men’s soccer team lost to Lyon College 2-1 at Warrior Field on Tuesday evening.
The visiting Scots, playing their second exhibition contest of the year, outshot the Warriors 16-5 in front of crowd of 146.
Freshman Jack Hayes struck first for Lyon, scoring in the 17th minute on a pass from Lance Alpuerto.
Hendrix tied the game in the 75th minute when junior defender Kevin Gregory found senior Duncan Keegan who blasted a shot from the top of the box past Scot keeper Thomas Guarino. Lyon scored the game-winner in the 80th minute when Andres Contreras’ grounder ricocheted off the right post. Bill Jeffries was credited with the assist.
Warrior senior goalie Adam Legg recorded four saves, while freshman Joe Esrock came up with three stops. Guarino had one save for the Scots.
Hendrix will play Ouachita Baptist in Arakdelphia Saturday in the final exhibition of the season.
