The Hendrix College volleyball team ended the 2011 Hendrix Fall Classic with a split at Grove Gymnasium on Saturday. The Warriors (7-6) swept Rust 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 then lost to Ouachita Baptist 25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-11.
Hendrix outhit Rust .288 to .063 and had a 48-19 kills advantage.
Junior middle blocker Melissa Clement led Hendrix with 16 kills and hit .483. Sophomore Alyssa Jaksich added 10 kills and freshman Kylee Spicer had six. Sophomore Zoe Calhoun and senior Ashley Skinner recorded 21 and 16 assists, respectively. Freshman libero Ella Concavage-Nasar came up with 16 digs.
OBU (9-6) hit .321 with 61 kills while Hendrix managed to hit .118 with 38 kills. The Warriors had a 9-7 blocks advantage.
Clement hit .407 with 14 kills and a season-high seven blocks. Junior Katie Bates had eight kills and sophomore Katie Burchfield recorded six kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Jordyn Spennato and Concavage-Nasar had 11 digs each for the Warriors.
Kelsi Bodine paced the Lady Tigers with 15 kills and Megan Askew had 14 with five blocks. Lexie Hegi assisted 45 points to go with 14 digs.
The Warriors will return to action Thursday at Central Baptist College.
