In their final home game of the season, the University of Central Arkansas women’s soccer team played even with Texas State for more than a half, but a pair of second-half goals allowed the Bobcats to leave Conway with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Bears on Senior Day at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex.
The Bears (5-8-1, 1-4-0 Southland) fell behind in the 50th minute on a goal from Texas State’s Taylor Kelley. The Bobcats (9-5-0, 4-1-0) struck again in the 70th minute on a Serena Hines goal to push the lead to what would be the final margin of 2-0.
Sunday’s game was the final one at home this season for UCA, which plays its final four on the road, and the last home appearance for seniors Julie Foerster, Marissa Hicks, Caty McMains and Corey Rossi, along with redshirt junior Jessica Brand, who will forego her final season of eligibility.
The Bears will make up last week’s canceled game with Sam Houston State on Wednesday, then travel to Northwestern State on Friday.
