CLARKSVILLE — The University of Ozarks barely edged out Hendrix College at the Arkansas Division III Cross Country Championship on Wednesday evening. The Eagles won the men’s 4.1 mile race 24-31 and the Lady Eagles took the 5k women’s event 23-32.
Five juniors were the top finishers for the Warrior men. Wesley Haynie finished second in 21:25.00 and Andres Ramirez took fifth in 21:58.60. Micah Cothren finished seventh in 22:16.20 and Stephen Borutta took eighth in 22:25.90. John Dyer rounded out the scoring in 22:25.90.
In the women’s race, each of Hendrix’ top three finishers recorded season-best marks. Junior Stephanie Davenport placed second in 20:15.20 and freshman Anna Jolliff finished fourth in 20:59.10. Freshman Lee Rogers ran a time of 23:41.40 and finished seventh. Freshman Laura Gressler finished ninth in 25:06.80 and freshman Gina Kelling placed 10th in 29:06.80.
The race was the final tune-up before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Sewanee, Tenn. on Oct. 29.
