WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Sophomore Elizabeth Krug broke her own school record in the pole vault as the Hendrix College track and field teams competed at the University of Central Missouri Classic on Friday.
Krug cleared a height of 3.10 meters (10 ft.-2 in.), breaking her old record of 10 ft., placing eighth.
Krug also finished fifth in the 400 meters in 1:01.84, 11th in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.17 and 13th in the long jump at 4.86 meters (15 ft.-11.5 in.). Junior Bridget O’Shaughnessy also recorded a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar set at 1.50 meters (4 ft.-11 in.).
Freshman Tiatjah Johnson made her collegiate debut for the Warriors, placing eighth in the 60 meters in 8.35 seconds and 12th in the 200 meters with a time of 28.19 sec. Senior Beth Pond took 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 10.50 meters (34 ft.-5.5 in.) and 14th with a 9.23 meter (30 ft-3.5 in.) shot put toss.
For the men, junior Clarton Leding placed eighth in the 60 in 7.19 seconds. Junior Wes Hayne ran the 3,000 meters in 9:09.95, placing 11th.
Freshman David Spriewald placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 11.04 meters (36 ft.-2.75 in.). Freshman Keegan Whicker ran the 400 meters in 55.85 sec., placing 14th. Whicker, Gabe Breshears, Marcel Douglas and Cameron Mosley finished fifth in the 4x440 yard relay with a time of 3:52.09
The Warriors competed against host UCM, UMKC, Lindenwood, Missouri Southern, Drury, Northwest Missouri State, Haskell, Wentworth, Missouri S&T and Westminster.
