TULSA — The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles spotted the University of Central Arkansas a 1-0 lead on Tuesday but came back to record a 3-1 victory over the Bears in nonconference baseball action at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
The Bears (3-4) put up a run in the top of the first inning off ORU starter Mike Torrence but did not score again against a combination of four pitchers. UCA managed only four hits off its future Southland Conference foe, and none for extra bases.
Junior Forrestt Allday led off the game with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Jonathan Davis. Ethan Harris’ groundout moved Allday to third and he scored on Bryan Willson’s RBI single to right field.
The Golden Eagles (3-5) threatened in the second inning but UCA starter Bryce Biggerstaff struck out the final two batters of the inning with two runners on base. ORU tied it in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Cam Schiller.
They added two more runs in the sixth inning off Biggerstaff before Dylan Owen took over for UCA and got out of the inning by striking out Tyler Coker.
The Bears left two runners on base in the seventh inning after Blake Roberts had a base hit and Garrett Brown walked. UCA also got a runner on base in the ninth against ORU’s Matt Rush, a walk to Willson, but he got the next three batters in order for his first save.
UCA hosts Murray State this weekend in a three-game series, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at Bear Stadium.
