The University of Central Arkansas softball team defeated Nicholls State Friday for a school record 30th victory.

The Bears upped their record to 30-17, 4-5 in the Southland Conference. The 2000 squad went 29-21.

The Central Arkansas Bears made history Friday night, beating conference foe Nicholls State 4-1. The victory was the 30th of the year for the Bears (30-17, 4-5 SLC), giving them sole ownership of the record, which had previously been held by the 2000 squad that went 29-21.

Kelsey Armstrong (18-10) collected the win for the Bears, throwing her 27th complete game of the season while allowing six hits and striking out five Colonels.

The Bears play the Colonels against Saturday at noon.
