BLANCO, Texas – University of Central Arkansas freshman Malin Senneryd is tied for first place after Day 1 of the Southland Conference Women’s Golf Championship being played at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

Senneryd shot an opening round 2-under 70 on Monday and is tied with UTSA’s Shannon Jungman.

    UCA shot an opening 312 and is tied for fourth place with Sam  Houston State. UTSA, the defending champion, leads the field at 290, followed by Texas State (301), Lamar (305), UCA and SHSU (312), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (316), McNeese State (335) and Stephen F. Austin (338).

    UCA junior Julia Roth is tied for 16th after shooting a 79 on Monday. Sophomore Carly Dear shot 80 and is tied for 20th, while seniors Gemma Hardie and Brooke Braun are is tied for 28th (83).

    The second round begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
