SHERMAN, Texas—- The Hendrix College softball team split its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against Austin College at Old Settlers Park on Saturday.

The Warriors (16-17, 6-8) won the first game 7-4, but the host 'Roos (12-26, 6-8) came back to win the nightcap 10-2 in five innings.

With the split, Hendrix will need to sweep Sunday's doubleheader  in order to qualify for next week's SCAC Championship Tournament in Jackson, Tenn. The two teams are tied for third in the West Divison. The 'Ross hold the tiebreaker over the Warriors.

Trace Grinnell paced the Warriors at the plate in the first game, going 4-for-4 with two driven in. Paul Burr and Catelyn Gibbs added two hits each.

Halbert (11-8) picked up the win with four strikeouts and allowing nine hits, three earned runs and a walk.

Morgan Fires and Halbert had two hits each for Hendrix in the second game.
