Ciara Clampitt, a pitcher for the University of Arkansas softball team in 2012, will transfer to the University of Central Arkansas and join the Bears this fall, UCA head coach David Kuhn announced Monday.

Clampitt, a left-handed pitcher out of Burkburnett, Texas, compiled a 2-2 record for the Razorbacks this season as a true freshman. She recorded wins over Iowa and Southland Conference foe Northwestern State while making four starts, 13 appearances and throwing 28.1 innings.

"She will be an outstanding addition to our program on and off the field," Kuhn said. "She brings another experienced pitcher to our staff, and she is an outstanding lefty that will be a good complement to the pitching staff we return."

She joins a UCA team coming off its best season in program history, recording 36 wins and leading the league with eight all-conference selections. The Bears lose three senior pitchers from that team, but return three who saw action in 2012 – including senior first-team all-conference performer Kelsie Armstrong.

As a senior at City View High School in 2011, Clampitt had 22 wins en route to an appearance in the regional final of the Class 2A state championship playoffs, and earned second-team all-district honors. As a freshman at Burkburnett High in 2008, she was 10-2 and led the Lady Bulldogs to a berth in the Class 3A State Championship. She hit .357 that season, and was named her district's Newcomer of the Year. She also received all-district honors in soccer for Burkburnett.
