The Hendrix College men’s soccer team won the Warrior Classic with a 1-0 victory over the University of Texas at Tyler on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors (6-0-1) picked up their school record sixth shutout of the season and are off to their best start in program history.

Hendrix ended the Warrior Classic by defeating two regionally ranked teams, topping Simpson, No. 10 in the North, 4-3 on Friday, and defeating UT Tyler, No. 4 in the West, today.
The game was decided only 2:30 in, when freshman forward Steven Cochrun scored from 16 yards out after a corner kick rebound.

For the match, UTT outshot Hendrix 15-9 and had a 7-3 on goal advantage.

The Hendrix defense anchored by captains Gregory and senior Dylan Reed, plus sophomore Greg Gandy and freshman John McGrath held strong for the Warriors.
Freshman keeper Marco Luna recorded six saves, adding to his school record sixth shutout of the season.
