The University of Central Arkansas has announced a 12-game football schedule for Bears in 2013 that features a road game at Colorado University and a home game against two-time NCAA FCS runner-up Sam Houston State to close the regular season.

The Bears will play six home games and six road games. Two of the road games will within a short driving distance — at Missouri State in Springfield and at Tennessee-Martin.

UCA will open the season Thursday, Aug. 29, at home with a nonconference game against Incarnate Word, a new Southland Conference member that is not playing a full league schedule this season. UCA will play at Colorado on Sept. 7.

The home game against Sam Houston State will be Nov. 23. The NCAA FCS playoffs, which will expand to 24 teams this season, will begin a week later than in the past.
