HATTIESBURG, Miss. _ Caleb McClanahan tossed a four-hitter and used only 102 pitches Friday night in leading the University of Central Arkansas baseball team to its 16th victory, 3-0 over Southern Mississippi.

McClanahan (4-1) walked none and struck out four for the Bears (16-2).

UCA, which managed only five hits, scored when Ethan Harris doubled in Kraig Kelley and Garrett Brown. Later, Harris scored on a fielder's choice by Jonathan Davis.

Austin Roussel homered for Southern Mississippi's only run.

Game 2 of the three-game series is Saturday afternoon.
