HATTIESBURG, Miss.– Central Arkansas and Southern Mississippi battled both the elements and each other on Sunday afternoon, playing the final game of their three-game set under the clouds and, often the rain with the Golden Eagles taking a 2-1 victory to prevent UCA from sweeping the baseball series.
UCA fell to 17-3 while the Golden Eagles are 8-11.
UCA's only run game in the sixth on a walk, a bunt single, a stolen base, a wild pitch, a hit batsman and a fielder's choice.
Bryce Biggerstaff (2-1) threw 6.1 innings for UCA, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three. He hit two batters. Conor Fisk (1-1), in just his second start of the season for the Golden Eagles, threw five plus innings, giving up one run on three hits and four walks while striking out five.
The Bears will play at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday before opening Southland Conference play with a weekend series at Oral Roberts.
