HUNTSVILLE, Texas _ Sam Houston State lefthander Cody Dickson limited the University of Central Arkansas Bears to just four hits and struck out 10 as the Bearkats wrapped up the Southland Conference regular-season title with a 4-0 win Friday night at Don Sanders Stadium.

The victory gave the No. 27 Bearkats (35-18, 19-7) the outright regular-season SLC title. The loss, just UCA’s third shutout of the season, dropped the Bears to 34-18 overall and 12-14 in league play. The regular-season and series finale is set for 1 p.m. Saturday. It will mark the third straight conference series the Bears have lost.

The Bearkats scored the only run they would need in the first inning on a single, double and sacrifice fly off UCA starter Jeffery Enloe (7-5). The senior lefthander from Gonzalez, La., did not allow another run until the fifth inning when SHSU got a run without a ball leaving the infield, Two infield singles, a sacrifice bunt and a ground out made it 2-0.

SHSU got singles runs again in the sixth, on a fielder’s choice, and the seventh, on an RBI single by Kevin Miller. Enloe went 6 1/3 innings, allowing 11 hits and four earned runs while striking out three. Senior Clint Green threw a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.

The Bears, who have lost four of their past five games, only managed four singles off Dickson, from Forrestt Allday, Blake Marchal, Michael Marietta and Justin Treece. For the Bearkats, catcher Anthony Azar went 3 for 4 and first baseman Jessie Plumlee was 2 for 3.

Junior Bryce Biggerstaff (4-3) will try to help the Bears avoid the sweep on Saturday.
