University of Central Arkansas senior golfer Julia Roth added one more honor to her long list of career highlights Monday when she was named to the 2013 Southland Conference All-Academic team.
Roth, from Karlskrona, Sweden, has a 3.16 grade-point average in business management. A three-time All-SLC selection and 2013 SLC Women’s Golfer of the Year, Roth led the conference with a 74.0 stroke average and finished in the top 10 in every tournament she played.
Roth became the first women’s golfer in Southland history to be named golfer of the month four times in one season. She was the only player in the conference to earn a NCAA invitation to participate in the regional field as an individual.
The all-academic teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each Southland Conference university. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
