CAVE CITY — Conway Christian defeated its crosstown rival St. Joseph 23-25, 25-20-15-6 Saturday in tournament action here.

The Lady Bulldogs entered tournament play after a pair of victories in pool play. St. Joseph swept both Newport (25-13, 25-15) and Izard County (25-14, 25-16) before its tournament match with Conway Christian.

"The tournament didn’t go like I wanted, but if we got better, that’s all that matters," Lady Bulldogs coach Luke Davis said. "The wins and losses right now are big to some, but it’s the end of the season that matters."

Courtney Briggler led St. Joseph with 20 kills, while Savannah Cooper had 11. Rachel Briggler and Madison Seiter had 20 and 19 assists, respectively, annd Tori Carter finished with 15 digs and five aces. Cooper also had seven blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Monday at Greenbrier.
