NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Conway High wrestlers easily won the team competition last weekend at the Central Arkansas Christian Classic.

The Wampus Cats compiled 204.5 points with four firsts, two seconds and a third. Little Rock Central Was second in the 19-team event with 145 points.

Winning for the Wampus Cats were:

Connor Lubsby, pin fall, over Robert Lewis of Bentonville at 119 pounds. Lusby is 17-7 for the season.

Jaxson Myers (27-0), def. Henry Reyes of Russellville at 140 pounds, 5-3 decision.

Corven Alexander (24-1) def. Austin Gonzalez, Bentonville, at 145 pounds, pin fall. 

Skyler Thompson (20-4) def. Andy McDowell, Bentonville, at 171 pounds.

The Cats’ Elliot Lusby finished second at 125 pounds, losing to Tyler Kurtz of Cabot by pin fall. Brannon Kotch of Conway lost a close championship match at 285 pounds to Keidrick Usifo of Central by an 8-7 decision.

David Fulford of Conway won the consolation title (third place) at 215 pounds with a 5-4 decision over Nick Freeman of Searcy.

Other high finishes in the bracket by CHS wrestlers:

Connor Aist lost in teh quarterfinals at 103 pounds. Dylan Watts lost in the consolation semifinals at 112 pounds. Tanner Branscum lost in the consolation semifinals at 130 pounds. T.J. Ruth lost in the quarterfinals at 135 pounds. Ryan Ennis lost in the consolation semifinals at 160 pounds.

Conway will host a 29-team Wampus Cat Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday with matches at both Buzz Bolding Arena and the old gymnasium.
