RUSSELLVILLE —  Russellville wrapped up the 7A/6A Central boys championship Tuesday night with a 49-45 victory over Conway.

Eric Turner led the Cyclones (21`-5, 13-1) with 12 points, including a 3-pointer after baskets by Justin Leon and Xavier Clardy drew Conway within 32-31.

Tim Boyd, Trent Walder and Clardy each had 10 points for the Cats (16-10, 6-7), who are in a fight for the fifth and sixth spots from the conference in the 7A state tournament.

In the girls game, Russellville used a 17-0 run in the first quarter on the way to a 64-31 romp.

The Lady Cyclones upped their record to 19-7, 10-3. Conway, which already has the No. 6 seed from the Central Conference wrapped up for the state tournament, fell to 11-14, 3-10.

Enjonae Chambers and Claire Hobbs each had 10 points for Conway.
CHS teams will host Mount St. Mary/Little Rock Catholic on Friday on Senior Night.


VILONIA — Vilonia’s Lady Eagles secured either the second or third seed in the 5A state tournament with a 48-30 victory Tuesday over Harrison.

Colleen Farris, who was seven of 11 from 3-point range, led Vilonia with 23 points. Lydia Gordon had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Alaina Riley had three assists.

The Lady Eagles (28-7, 10-3) need to win at Siloam Spings on Friday to gain the No. 2 seed at the 5A state tournament at Paragould. The loser gains the No. 3 seed.

In senior boys, Harrison defeated the Eagles, 66-51. Trevor Martin scored 29 for Vilonia (9-16, 4-9). Jacob Gree had nine.


MORRILTON — Greenbrier edged Morrilton, 37-35, Tuesday night in senior girls action.
