Conway and Faulkner County will host two traditional basketball tournaments this weekend.

Both the Bank of the Ozarks/John Stanton Classic at Conway High and the Battle of the Brier at Greenbrier will have fresh touches.

John Stanton Classic

Beginning Friday at Buzz Bolding Arena, boys event will pit 7A Central and 7A West teams with a couple of exceptions.

North Little Rock will take on El Dorado on Friday and play a highly regarded Baptist Prep team Saturday afternoon.

Conway, in its debut season under coach Salty Longing, will play Van Buren and Bentonville West.


4 p.m.: Bryant vs Fayetteville

5:30: Little Rock Central vs. Bentonville West

7 p.m.: North Little Rock vs. El Dorado

8:30 p.m.: Conway vs. Van Buren


11 a.m.: Fayetteville vs. Little Rock Central

12:30 p.m.: Van Buren vs. Bryant

2 p.m.: Baptist Prep vs. North Little Rock

3:30 p.m.: Bentonville West vs. Conway

Battle at the Brier

The longstanding boys and girls event at Panther Pavillion, which begins Thursday, will have its usual round-robin format with 5A-West teams Greenbrier, Vilonia and Maumelle plus the Little Rock Flames homeschool team and JV teams from Greenbrier, Conway and Cabot.

The feature games, as usual, will be Friday night between Greenbrier and Vilonia.

5:15 p.m.: Vilonia boys vs. Little Rock Flames

6:30 p.m.: Greenbrier girls vs. Maumelle

7:45 p.m.: Greenbrier boys vs. Maumelle
