“Each family is a treasure. You start your life out with the family you are given. With time you add the family you’ve chosen,” Unknown.
Thanksgiving 2019 is behind us but the cherished memories we made as we gathered around a table of thanksgiving will last forever. This holiday we celebrated with friends who over time, have become family. We gathered with new friends, shared a meal and conversation and gave thanks for our many blessings.
Our daily blessings for the week began on Monday with the birth of our great-grandson, Graesyn.
“Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation,” Louis Wyse.
Our family sat with other families awaiting a child to be born. We wait nine months to hold that child, nine months preparing to love them for a lifetime. The anticipation and joy in a maternity waiting room is an inspiring experience where so many possibilities are present. Families coming together to share in the miracle of birth.
“In giving birth to our babies, we may find that we give birth to new possibilities within ourselves,” Jon Kabat-Zinn.
New mother’s and father’s are born, families are united for a lifetime and the future is bright with possibilities and will be nurtured with love.
While waiting for Graesyn’s arrival I was visiting with another grandchild, Tayler, and asked her what she wanted for Christmas, her reply was simple, “Time with you and Papa.”
My heart was already so full pending the birth of Graesyn but her request made my heart overflow with joy.
One of my all time favorite gifts to give is a coupon to spend quality time individually with those that I love. I purchase a small gift that has something to do with what I’d like to do with the receiver. Once I gave my grandson an old tin mess kit used for camping with a coupon to teach him how to use it when we take a camping trip with each other.
Your kindness challenge for the week is to give the gift of time to someone you love. I know it’s a busy time of year but there are no guarantees for tomorrow. Don’t let an opportunity pass that you will regret. Love coupons and time are free and are one of the greatest gifts you can give and receive.
“Time is a created thing. To say “I don’t have time” is to say “I don’t want to,” Lao Tzu.
